FAQs
Clear answers to the most common questions about pond, lake, wetland, and stormwater care—so you can make confident decisions.
Getting Started
What areas do you serve?
We manage ponds, lakes, wetlands, and stormwater systems across the Southeast, with locally based crews in Florida, Georgia, and South Carolina. If you’re nearby, we likely serve you—reach out and we’ll confirm your timeline and crew.
Who do you work with?
HOAs/communities, municipal & government entities, golf courses and tournament venues, property managers, private pond owners, resorts/hospitality, developers, and engineers.
What happens during a free site visit?
A certified aquatic specialist evaluates waterbody size/depth, inflows/outflows, vegetation, shoreline condition, equipment (aeration/fountains), and compliance risks. You’ll get a clear plan of action with options, timelines, and a maintenance path.
Do you offer ongoing service plans?
Yes—monthly and seasonal plans customized to your waterbody’s dimensions, goals, and budget. Plans combine proactive inspections, vegetation control, aeration upkeep, water-quality testing, and seasonal tasks.
Algae & Aquatic Weeds
Why do algae and weeds keep coming back?
Excess nutrients (nitrogen/phosphorus) from runoff, shallow depths, warm temperatures, and low dissolved oxygen create ideal growth conditions. Without treating root causes, regrowth is inevitable.
How do you control algae and invasive species?
We combine targeted treatments, biological controls, habitat adjustments, and aeration/circulation. We favor low‑impact, eco‑conscious methods and pair treatment with nutrient/source control.
Are treatments safe for people, pets, and wildlife?
Yes. We use EPA-registered products when needed and follow all label rates, buffer restrictions, and posting requirements. We’ll advise on irrigation or swimming wait times if applicable.
How long until I see results?
Most surface algae clears within days; rooted invasive plants can take multiple visits and seasonal follow‑through. Long‑term control requires maintaining oxygen levels, depth, and nutrient balance.
Aeration & Fountains
Do I need aeration?
If you see fish stressing, recurring algae, or strong odors—and especially if average depth is under ~6 ft—mechanical aeration/circulation is one of the highest‑ROI upgrades.
What types do you install?
Bottom diffused aeration for oxygenation/turnover; decorative surface fountains for aesthetics and some circulation; destratification systems for deeper lakes. We size systems using bathymetry and power availability.
How is maintenance handled?
We include scheduled cleaning, airline checks, compressor service, seasonal pull/launch if required, and winterization where appropriate.
Dredging and Erosion
How do I know if dredging is needed?
Signs include rapid weed/algae rebound, shallow coves, flooding after storms, dark/odorous muck, and outlets buried in sediment. We confirm with sediment probing or bathymetric mapping.
What dredging methods do you use?
Hydraulic dredging for minimal disruption and continuous slurry removal; mechanical excavation when access and dewatering allow. We plan for staging, dewatering, permits, and restoration.
How long does dredging take?
Small ponds can be completed in weeks; multi‑acre lakes require phased plans. We’ll outline cubic yards removed, daily production, access routes, and resident communications.
Stormwater & Compliance
What inspections and repairs do you handle?
NPDES/MS4 inspections, SCM/pond repairs (riser/outlet, forebay clean‑outs), shoreline stabilization, buffer plantings, and vegetation management to meet municipal standards.
Can you help with permits?
Yes. We assist with permitting, agency coordination, and pre‑inspection punch lists to reduce compliance risk.
What causes flooding or chronic turbidity?
Undersized/blocked outlets, eroding shorelines, clogged forebays, excessive sediment, or high nutrient inflows. Our plan addresses both infrastructure and watershed sources.
Fish Health & Habitat
How do you improve fish health?
We balance predator/prey ratios, add habitat structure, manage spawning areas, and maintain dissolved oxygen. Stocking plans align with goals (aesthetics, recreation, mosquito control, biodiversity).
Will vegetation control hurt fisheries?
We preserve beneficial native plants and target only problematic species. Aeration and habitat structures offset any temporary cover loss.
Pricing & Contracts
How much do services cost?
Monthly management is scoped to waterbody size/complexity; stormwater inspections/repairs are quoted per asset; dredging is estimated per cubic yard with mobilization and dewatering. We’ll share options that fit your budget and timeline.
Do you offer multi‑site or multi‑year agreements?
Yes—bundled pricing and seasonal scheduling for HOAs, municipalities, and portfolios.
Safety & Environmental Stewardship
How do you minimize chemical reliance?
We prioritize prevention (aeration, depth, buffers), mechanical/biological controls, and precision applications when needed—always following label and environmental best practices.
Are you insured and certified?
All crews hold required state licensure and safety training. We maintain additional certifications in aquatic management, stormwater compliance, and environmental regulation.
